The numbers behind the career
Conor McGregor record: 22 wins, 7 losses
Conor McGregor’s professional MMA record is 22–7–0 across 29 fights, as checked on October 28, 2026. His UFC record is 10–5; his record before UFC competition was 12–2. He has no professional MMA draws or no contests in the verified history. These totals exclude his amateur appearances and his separate boxing match against Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The distinction matters because McGregor’s career spans several promotions, three UFC weight divisions and two sports. A UFC-only total leaves out the 14 professional bouts he contested before entering the Octagon. Adding the Mayweather loss to his MMA defeats creates a different and misleading total. The 29-fight record below follows Sherdog’s professional MMA history, cross-checked against UFC’s athlete history and official event results.
His most recent appearance was a loss to Max Holloway at UFC 329 on July 11, 2026. His latest victory remains the 40-second stoppage of Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 on January 18, 2020. Between those dates, two defeats to Dustin Poirier and the Holloway rematch changed his record from 22–4 to 22–7.

Most recent result
Conor McGregor’s last fight: Max Holloway at UFC 329
McGregor’s last fight was against Max Holloway on July 11, 2026, at UFC 329 in Las Vegas. Holloway won by TKO because of a knee injury at 1:09 of round one. The result took McGregor to 22–7 overall and 10–5 in the UFC. The official UFC 329 event page records the round and time, while UFC’s official results and scorecards identify the stoppage as a knee-injury TKO.
The rematch came nearly 13 years after their first meeting, which McGregor won by unanimous decision in August 2013. That original contest was at featherweight; the 2026 bout was at welterweight. Their head-to-head series therefore stands at 1–1.
The injury does not remove the result from the record. A TKO caused by an injury is still an official defeat. It is also a separate event from the leg injury that ended McGregor’s third Poirier fight in 2021. For developments after the latest completed bout, see our Conor McGregor next fight page.
Latest victory
Conor McGregor’s last win: Donald Cerrone in 40 seconds
Conor McGregor’s last win was over Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC 246 on January 18, 2020. McGregor won the welterweight bout by TKO after a head kick and punches, with the stoppage coming at 0:40 of round one. The victory moved his professional MMA record to 22–4. UFC’s official UFC 246 report confirms the result.
The finish was McGregor’s first victory since beating Eddie Alvarez in November 2016. It also gave him UFC stoppage wins at featherweight, lightweight and welterweight. As of this article’s verification date, Cerrone remains his most recent win; the Holloway appearance in 2026 was a return to competition, followed by a loss.
How the victories were earned
Conor McGregor wins by knockout, submission and decision
McGregor has 19 KO/TKO wins, one submission win and two decision wins. That makes 20 finishes in 22 victories, a finish rate of approximately 90.9%. Knockouts and technical knockouts account for approximately 86.4% of his wins. These percentages are calculated from the professional MMA history above; they describe the share of victories, rather than the share of all 29 appearances.
His only submission victory came against Dave Hill at Cage Warriors 47 on June 2, 2012, by rear-naked choke in round two. His decision wins were over Max Holloway in 2013 and Nate Diaz in their 2016 rematch. Both decision victories came in the UFC, where his other eight wins were finishes by KO/TKO.
The championship wins that defined his record
- Chad Mendes, UFC 189: a second-round TKO at 4:57 on July 11, 2015 earned McGregor the interim UFC featherweight championship.
- José Aldo, UFC 194: a first-round knockout at 0:13 on December 12, 2015 made him the undisputed UFC featherweight champion.
- Eddie Alvarez, UFC 205: a second-round TKO at 3:04 on November 12, 2016 added the UFC lightweight title while he still held the featherweight belt.
The Alvarez victory made McGregor the UFC’s first simultaneous two-division champion. That achievement is distinct from successfully defending either undisputed title, which he did not do. For the wider story behind those milestones, read our McGregor career timeline and biography.
Every official defeat
Conor McGregor losses: who has beaten him?

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Loss | Max Holloway | UFC 329 – McGregor vs. Holloway 2 | TKO (knee injury) | 1 | 1:09 | |
| Loss | Dustin Poirier | UFC 264 – Poirier vs. McGregor 3 | TKO (leg injury / doctor stoppage) | 1 | 5:00 | |
| Loss | Dustin Poirier | UFC 257 – Poirier vs. McGregor 2 | KO (punches) | 2 | 2:32 | |
| Loss | Khabib Nurmagomedov | UFC 229 – Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor | Submission (neck crank) | 4 | 3:03 | |
| Loss | Nate Diaz | UFC 196 – McGregor vs. Diaz | Submission (rear-naked choke) | 2 | 4:12 | |
| Loss | Joseph Duffy | Cage Warriors 39 – The Uprising | Submission (arm-triangle choke) | 1 | 0:38 | |
| Loss | Artemij Sitenkov | Cage of Truth 3 | Submission (kneebar) | 1 | 1:09 |
Sitenkov and Duffy defeated him before his UFC debut. Diaz handed him his first UFC loss in March 2016, after seven straight victories in the promotion. Nurmagomedov submitted him in their 2018 lightweight title fight. Poirier then won both 2021 meetings, before Holloway won the 2026 rematch.
The two injury stoppages remain part of the same official loss total: Poirier at UFC 264 and Holloway at UFC 329. They should not be reclassified as draws or no contests. The Mayweather boxing defeat is recorded separately below and is excluded from these seven MMA losses.
The regional years
Conor McGregor record before UFC: 12–2
McGregor’s record before UFC competition was 12 wins and two losses in 14 professional MMA fights. Sherdog dates his professional debut against Gary Morris at Cage of Truth 2 to March 8, 2008: a second-round TKO victory. His early career included events in Ireland and appearances for Cage Warriors, Cage Contender, Chaos Fighting Championships and other regional promotions.
The defeats to Sitenkov in 2008 and Duffy in 2010 left him 4–2. He responded with eight consecutive wins before joining the UFC. All 12 pre-UFC victories were finishes: 11 by KO/TKO and one by submission. The streak established the finishing ability that would become central to his UFC rise.
Cage Warriors titles before the Octagon
In 2012, McGregor won the Cage Warriors featherweight title by submitting Dave Hill, then knocked out Ivan Buchinger at Cage Warriors 51 on December 31 to capture the lightweight championship. The Buchinger finish came at 3:40 of round one and was his last professional fight before entering the UFC.
He arrived as a champion in two Cage Warriors divisions and made his UFC debut against Marcus Brimage on April 6, 2013. A first-round TKO at 1:07 took his overall record to 13–2. McGregor’s own career fight-record page corroborates the early history, although its later totals stop before his most recent appearances.
Inside the Octagon
Conor McGregor UFC record: 10–5 in 15 fights
McGregor’s UFC record is 10 wins and five losses. His 15 appearances break down as 7–0 at featherweight, 1–3 at lightweight and 2–2 at welterweight. Those divisional totals are calculated from the completed bouts, rather than from the weight currently displayed on his athlete profile.
His featherweight run included Brimage, Holloway, Diego Brandão, Poirier, Dennis Siver, Mendes and Aldo. It produced seven wins, six finishes and the undisputed championship. At lightweight, he beat Alvarez for the title before losses to Nurmagomedov and Poirier twice. At welterweight, he split two fights with Diaz, defeated Cerrone and lost the Holloway rematch.
How the major rivalries stand
Nate Diaz: 1–1. Diaz won by rear-naked choke at UFC 196. McGregor won their five-round rematch by majority decision at UFC 202. Dustin Poirier: 1–2. McGregor won the 2014 featherweight meeting; Poirier won both 2021 lightweight bouts. Max Holloway: 1–1. McGregor won in 2013 and Holloway won in 2026. Khabib Nurmagomedov: 0–1. Their only completed meeting ended in a fourth-round submission at UFC 229.
A separate sport and record
Conor McGregor boxing record: 0–1
McGregor’s professional boxing record is 0 wins and one loss. Floyd Mayweather Jr. defeated him by tenth-round TKO on August 26, 2017, in Las Vegas. UFC’s contemporary Mayweather–McGregor report confirms the result. It was a professional boxing contest, rather than an MMA bout, and therefore does not appear among the 29 fights in the MMA table.
A combined count across the two sports would be 30 professional appearances, but each sport should retain its own record: 22–7 in MMA and 0–1 in boxing. UFC’s career profile also identifies the Mayweather contest separately from McGregor’s Octagon history. Read more in our McGregor boxing career section.

Conor McGregor Sherdog record and UFC verification
The Conor McGregor Sherdog profile provides the complete professional MMA list, including his regional appearances. UFC supplies the official promotion results and contemporary event reports. Together, they support the current 22–7 total and the distinction between his full MMA history and his 10–5 UFC record.
Some differences concern presentation rather than the winner. Sherdog describes the UFC 257 finish as a KO by punches; UFC commonly groups the outcome under KO/TKO. For UFC 264, “leg injury” and “doctor’s stoppage” describe the same official TKO loss. UFC 257 also crosses a calendar boundary: January 23 for US billing and January 24 at the Abu Dhabi venue.
Older profiles may still show 22–4 or 22–6 because they stop before later fights. Check the most recent completed bout before comparing totals. This page was checked on October 28, 2026; a future scheduled fight will not change the record until it produces an official result.
Another meaning of “record”

McGregor’s record label is Greenback Records, a music venture launched in July 2024 with Richard Buck and Julian O’Brien. The contemporary launch announcement describes the founders and the label’s multi-genre plans; the official Greenback Records website lists its music releases. Here, “record label” refers to his business activity and has no effect on his sporting wins or losses.
